What are the black boxes from flight 447?

This has to do with flight 447 that crashed in the sea. They keep on saying they will be unable to discover the mystery unless they find the black boxes. What black boxes are they talking about??

Thanks! :)|||THe black box stores every piece of information about the flight. From that they will be able to tell what went wrong, what component failed etc.

http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/gad鈥?/a>|||these are recording devices used on all commercial airlines//they record what plane is doing and what crew is saying and doing|||Every time a commercial air liner goes down they always mention the black boxes....EVERY time a commercial airliner goes down they always mention the black boxes.

Actually they are orange so they can be spotted better

Is this really the first time you heard the term black boxes?|||One records conversations between the pilot and co-pilot. The other makes a rcord of flight characteristics such aas air speed, altitude, cabin pressure, engine temperature, etc|||All airplanes have those, they are recorders that monitor and keep every piece of information on the plane. One records all computer data, the other one records conversations in the cockpit and the aisles. They are made to handle all types of collisions, but in this case they might be buried thousands of miles underwater so there's no way to recover them|||A black box is an audio recorder device that's usually stored in an armored red casing to prevent damage to the recorder. The black box records what the pilots say. I would suppose they are called black boxes because the recordetr inside them is black.
