How do Americans who are black feel about the current gay movement equating being gay to being black?

Just curious, because gays say they are born this way. My issue is here; gay people still had to make a choice to participate in "gay" acts. This is similar to drug addicts. They feel they are born that way, so should we make smoking crack suitable for public venues, like at church or the mall?

Americans who are black actually were born black, and were treated terribly by our government for a while because of that, not because of a decision they made. How are these two things the same?|||I'm gay, black, and a woman.

I don't agree that being black and being gay are the same, but just similar in the ways where both have been discriminated against, both have had the bible used against them, and both have had it where they couldn't be with and marry to the person they loved.

The last part meaning when a black wanted to be with someone who was white. And even in slavery where it was more like they just had blacks breed...

And sure gay people could fight being gay and hide it, after all it's not like 50 years ago there less gays than there are now, it was just more people fought it and lived a lie where as now, gays won't.

I didn't decide to be gay, but did decided to want to feel and experience something similar to what heterosexual couples feel when they get to express their feeling for the one they love.

And I don't agree that people are born with drug addictions, just traits that allow them to become easily addicted to things. Sure they once they try drugs they always have to fight to stay off of them, but it's not like they were itching for a hit at the age of 7.

Also I don't see how being gay and a drug addict can be compared.

Being gay doesn't hurt anyone, you can't OD from being too gay, it won't destroy your body, etc.|||Gay people are born that way too. When did you choose to become a heterosexual? If the entire world told you that your 'choice' to like the opposite sex was wrong/immoral and that you couldn't marry or have 'hetero' acts with the person that you loved....would you simply cease to be heterosexual??

They are not the same...but they both share a commonality. BOTH black people AND gay people have been and are being denied their civil rights and equality. I'm pretty confident that if you were born a heterosexual and if the federal and state government told you that your feelings were wrong, that wouldn't stop you from liking and wanting to be with someone who fulfilled you.|||Hey you know I'm assuming you are a heterosexual. Just for one day turn that switch off, stop chasing women, and turn the other switch on and to see how easy it is to fantasize about a man of your dream. Yea, that's impossible.

I think gays are born with it just like heterosexuals.|||That comparison is made because 70% of black people voted yes on prop 8. That means you are taking away gays rights. Black people have been fighting for their right a long time now. And now you are taking away other peoples right. Thats ironic isn't it?|||ok i was gonna say bs, but i do believe people are born with their personality traits, so if gays are born gay , then the same could be said of whites, they are born white..why did you have to use black to compare the statement, trying to incite some anger...|||Being homosexual now equates to being a drug addict? That makes total sense considering it's so harmful to your health. Smoking crack? THAT'S harmful to your health.|||Equal rights are equal rights.

I am for the single people having equality in the tax code. I could care less whether that single person is gay or black.

Edit: So, since I am not an addict and don't have to fight it on a daily basis, does that make me normal and you abnormal?

Edit: The only people who "choose to be straight" (or gay) are bisexuals.|||Many Civil rights movements were guided by the Black Civil Rights movement. Gays are no different|||Should it make a difference if they were born that way. Or if they chose a particular lifestyle. I say freedom to all.|||if your logic was true then a man having sex with a women would also be similar to drug addicts.|||Well, noone likes to be treated like a second class citizen.|||Sorry but you sound like a complete idiot. My advice to you: get a life and stop worrying about other people's!|||I think it sucks.|||My parents are Black. Therefore, I am Black. It's as simple as that. I do not like my race being compared to anyone's sexual orientation, whether they feel it is a choice or not. By the way, I believe it IS a choice because I know of several people who have gone from gay to straight or from straight to gay for various reasons.

The "Black experience" is incomparable to the "gay experience".|||Considering the vast numbers of downlow brothers, I can see how they can be the same.
