Can the black and immigrant communties work together for race and class harmony in America?

Barack Obama's phenomenal rise and his powerful message of race harmony and bridge-building have swayed the young Americans. However, even though their struggles are very similar, working-class Latinos have so far shown hesitation to work together with their black brothers and sisters. Could Latinos and other immigrants work together with black Americans in the coming days?|||THis isn't an immigration question.





Yes, all races who are in the country legally can work together to improve it--black, brown and white.





Given that the USA is 70% Caucasian, don't you think your omission of whites is a bit naive?|||First off all Hispanics should go back to Cuba or Mexico. Leave the blacks alone. Maybe if more Hispanics left then life wold change. For a great read on sending immigrants home google this " Operation Wetb@ck" This is a true operation that happened in the 1900's. I just wish they could do it again.|||I think it is sad that some (not all) of the 2 biggest minorities in this country -- blacks and hispanics -- are against each other instead of working together. I think they both see themselves as minorities struggling for a place in society, competing for the same jobs, political and social recognition, and getting in each others way, rather than helping each other. Really, the situation between blacks and hispanics is more complicated bc on one hand, you have hispanics from Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic like Magic Juan who look black and have assimilated pretty fast into the "black community". Then you have hispanics like from Mexico or Cuba who have whiter skin, come from countries where racism (against blacks) is very much a part of life, and yeh they are racist against African-Americans here. So yeh it is complex but both groups should work together bc blacks were discriminated against long before hispanics (and other immigrant groups like asians, eastern europeans, etc.) started coming over. So it does not make any sense to take it out on them!!!|||I have known quite a few hisanics and apparently many of them dont like black people.





A few friends of mine parents openly said they would disown them if they ever dated black guys|||Obama doesn't care for the lower class, the immigrants, the poor, the uneducated.......





Now, NO I do not think the blacks and latino's can work together....You ever hear "circus rap" blaring from the boombox at a construction site?|||Bridge-building is my favorite expression. All races need to break down barriers and trust each other. One way is to encourage people to be open-minded and find churches or Pastors where generations of families are not preached hate and fear of other races. All races, white, latino and black will merge as be brothers and sisters, all united, all American. United we can tell our government to bring back corporations and jobs to the U.S. so we can all have the American dream. United we're strong, divided we fall. Fall into poverty.|||What about white people or do you not think they should also have the harmony you speak of? It seems to suggest that racial harmony is not exactly what you have in mind.|||If your talking about illegals in their communities, they are not immigrants as immigrants do it the legal way!!!!!!
