When did black people start naming their kids ghetto names?

I wish a black female could be named "Catelynn" instead of "telefoniqua" or "shanaynay' or bonquiqui.Blacks wanted to search for their own "identity" I heard but I dont believe blacks would come up with such stupid names.|||Darn. There is a reason behind the names blacks give their chldren, but since you're intention is to be racist I don't feel like wasting my time.|||first of all i would just like to say i have never met a telefoniqua or shanaynay. and last time i checked "bonquiqui" was a fictional character from a madtv sketch and she was HISPANIC, not black. why do some white people name their kids things like ocean, apple, hunter, and rainbow? and notice i said some, because i know not all white people do that, just like not all black people have "ghetto" names. even other black people think of certain names as ghetto. it all depends on how you were raised and your culture and creativity. to each his own. what's "ghetto" to you might be beautiful and unique to somebody else. there are white girls named tynisha and diamond and precious, all names that are considered "ghetto" apparently. my name is Briona, and people tell me thats a white girl name all the time and ask why my name isnt "shaniqua" or some other "black" name. a name doesnt define a person, character does. the fact that you asked something ignorant like this shows a lot about your character.|||They have been called ghetto names by whites who are insisted on covering our history be not admitting their true origin. The names that are considered ghetto by society are practically identical to names of ancient Egyptians who were blacks, not the Arabs you see today. So you see their not ghetto names, but names of our ancestors. They are considered ghetto to those who are to ignorant to learn others history.|||Why do they have to be labelled Ghetto names.

Even some Black people at my church make fun of ghetto names. Why is the names some creative Black people made considered ghetto. Rich people and people who don't live in the ghetto also have a right to name their children these names.|||That is their culture, and if you don't like it then to bad for you.
