How come black americans have the lowest median income in the US?

Black Americans lived in the US more than Hispanics did so they had more time to get educated and become important individuals in the society.Even so, hispanics came more recently to the US and they have a bigger household median income than blacks do.Why is this happening? I have so much respect for black people who come to my country(I am not from the US).They are all very educated and they are respected for this. Why are black americans so poor on average?Does the government do anything in order to change this thing?|||Black people have a longer history of marginalization in America than anyone else. Also Hispanics and other foreign immigrants are piggy backing off of the Civil Rights struggle Blacks waged in this country..Before the Civil Right struggle non-White immigrants had no more rights than Blacks did. Therefore fewer of them immigrated to the US. That changed after the Civil Rights movement. The unique thing about the Civil Rights movement is it was televised..This allowed the world to see the vicious brutality at the hands of enforced second class citizenship. Finally as victories were won and America became desegregated Non White foreign immigrant could come to America and achieve the American Dream without the same resistance.

The reconstruction period after the American Civil War and the abolition of slavery was the best time in America history for Blacks as a whole. The nation was not desegregated and Blacks still faced rampant and unbridled racism however Black were forced unite and work with each other within their own communities. Blacks were educated and becoming more and more self reliant. This did not fit into the plan for Black people in America by the powers that be. There is a saying,"keep your friends close and your enemies closer". That is exactly what integration did to the Black community.

The best example of how integration destroyed the Black community is the example of Baseball in America. Essentially there were two Baseball leagues in America. There was the Major League and there was the Negroe League. Though the Negroe league was not where the Major League was in popularity it was hardly fledgling. In fact the Negroe League was gaining ground. The ticket prices were cheaper, the talent in many cases was better and the atmosphere was more entertaining. Before long there would have been Black team owners, Black owned stadiums and more importantly White fans spending White dollars in the Black community.

The MLB could never let that happen. So the MLB becoming integrated and the best talent from the Negroe League was drafted by the MLB. This would not have worked if the Black ball players where not convinced that the ultimate measure of their success was playing and being successful on the same field with White men and the White man's baseball league. Therefore the best Black players willingly went to the MLB. Soon after the Negroe Baseball league became defunct and completely went by the wayside. Now days the best baseball players are Hispanic and African American participation in baseball has greatly declined over the years. Still along way it was Black players that made revolutionary stances that paved the way for the success of other players.

This is the same thing that has happen to the Black community. After the Civil Rights movement and integration a series of social programs were initiated to "help" Black people. The welfare system was revised to benefit women and children without a man in the home. Also affirmative action and the woman's lib/feminism movement help dissolve traditional gender roles in the work place effectively giving jobs to women that would normally be held by men. This devastated the Black family structure. Black women were finding gainful employment where as Black men that were not entrepreneurs or had a marketable specialized skill were left out in the cold to fend for themselves.. This broke up the Black family. Though in recent years Black women have out earned Black men, historically women make less then men in the same positions..This is still the case. This suited the employers very well..

Black men not able to contribute to the family caused a litany of psychological problems that often led to his incarceration or substance abuse and addiction. When you take the man out of the equation of earners then you will have a lower median income.|||I think its primarily due the segregation that you have in the US

you where right on the fact that black people lived in the US for a long time but there has always clearly been segregation against the black americans until 1968 (so not that long ago) thus the most adult black americans have lived before the civil right movement (in that time black americans where not allowed to be well educated)

so because of that they cant have the good paid jobs

so exually there is still segregation|||the long history of slavery, the civil war, and general human nature that fears those who are "different" resulted in many social and economic road blocks

Not so much that we did not elect a Bi-racial president

there was a great change in civil rights starting in the 1960s

you would spend a lifetime studying the history of the united states|||Some are lazy, some give up hope for getting a better life, they were oppressed and poor for a long time. It takes alot of willpower and hope to get out the ghetto.

Hispanics? You mean the legal ones right? Well, some are just as poor as well.|||they don't have any incentives to try harder because of the entitlement mentality

GIBS ME DAT !!!|||Because they are simultaneously oppressed and defeatist.|||Due to earning less money..|||go to a big city such as st louis and meet a real black person, they have no motivation

...and they steal|||Cant be all that bad, you have a black american president?|||because they perfer to be paid with kfc..|||sha queef a lot.
